Jim Salfer is a Regional Extension Educator with University of Minnesota Extension. Jim has led two on-farm research projects on over 50 farms in Minnesota and Wisconsin with milking robots trying to understand management factors that affect robotic milking performance. He has been working with colleagues to compare the economics of robotic milking compared to alternatives. Jim’s other education programs focus on record systems, optimizing replacement costs and management.
Jim holds degrees from South Dakota State University and from the University of Minnesota. His experience includes managing a feed department, working as a dairy nutritionist, and as a dairy farm manager.
