Summary: Optimizing Beef Growth Pre- or Post-weaning Using Perennial Pastures and Conserved Forages

Beef producers in the U.S. are constantly having to reevaluate their current production system to keep up with changing markets, feed, and fertilizer prices. One way to spread risk is to utilize perennial pastures to extend the grazing season further into winter. The objective of this work is to present a review of the literature of cattle performance on perennial pastures in the U.S., forage conservation, and reassessing hay intake of beef cattle.
