Presentation Title: New Insights into Dairy Calf Nutrition
As the value of dairy calves continues to rise, so does the need to optimize how we feed and manage them. Blending the latest dairy science and management recommendations, Dr. Dado-Senn will explore emerging insights in colostrum management, milk replacer formulation and milk-feeding strategies, and starter grain nutrition to and through weaning. Participants will be able to identify areas of nutrition and management opportunity and develop actionable takeaways for the dairy farms they support.
Dr. Bethany Dado-Senn is herd manager at her family’s 500-cow dairy, Four Hands Holsteins, located in Amery, WI. She also serves as an independent calf consultant, translating dairy science into practical on-farm strategies both in person and online via her account, @drdairyfarmer. She earned her B.S. and Ph.D. from the University of WisconsinMadison and an M.S. from the University of Florida, where she studied how heat stress impacts early-life calf development.
