Presentation Title: Role of AI in diet formulation and feedmill management
This presentation explores how artificial intelligence can transform feed formulation and
production by unlocking hidden value in historical and real-time data, supporting decision-
making, and reducing inefficiencies. We will demonstrate practical applications of AI in
compound feed manufacturing, share measurable outcomes, and highlight opportunities for
continuous improvement.
The feed industry faces growing pressure to deliver precise nutrition while reducing costs,
waste, and environmental impact. A key challenge is that decades of formulation and
production data remain underutilized, often accessible only to experts with long-standing
experience. Artificial intelligence offers a way to democratize this knowledge, making it
actionable for nutritionists, formulators, advisors, and operators at all levels.
Lenny Dauw got his master’s degree in Bioscience Cell and Gene technology at the
Ghent university in 2004. After joining BESTMIX Software in 2005, he has been active for
many years as a senior consultant in feed formulation software and as leader of
the BESTMIX® software delivery team. In his current position as customer success manager
he is responsible for owning the long-term customer relationship and ensuring that
customers achieve measurable business value from BESTMIX solutions, ensures that
solutions are embedded in the customer’s organization and deliver sustainable impact over
time.
